RAY TUCKER

Ray Tucker graduated from Lafayette High School in 1965, where he was an All-Region basketball player and stand out golfer. He went on to Berry College where he excelled at golf (all-conference selection) as well as basketball. Ray served as head coach of Calhoun High School’s boy’s basketball team from 1979-2004, where he compiled a record of 426 wins and 223 losses. Coach Tucker’s teams finished as region champions three years and had 11 teams go to the state tournament, which included one state finalist team, a ‘final four’ and three of his teams made it to the ‘elite eight’. Coach Tucker is currently the head basketball coach at Gordon Central.
In golf, Coach Tucker coached Calhoun to five region championships, eight region runner-ups and one state championship. He also coached the girl’s golf team to a region runner-up placement.
Other awards include being named the ‘Teacher of the Year’, the Georgia state golf coach of the year in 1976 and 1997, the NWGA Basketball Coach of the Year and was honored by the Atlanta Tip-Off Club as “Georgia’s Winningest Basketball Coaches”.
Coach Tucker is married to Pamela Tucker. Pamela is a registered nurse employed at Gordon Hospital where she is responsible for staff orientation, staff development, and patient education. They have three sons and six grandchildren. Ray III and his wife, Sabrina, are both educators. They have four children, Brenden 13, Landon 11, Kendall 5, and Cassandra 3. David and his wife, Heather, are the owners of H&R Sanitation Company serving Chattooga, Walker and Catoosa Counties. They have two children, Anslee 12, and Bryson 3. Craig and his wife Kiki, are farmers growing hydroponic lettuces.
