As a three-sport athlete in high school, Jayne Maupin would go on to have one of the most decorated careers in Calhoun High School history. While she lettered three times in basketball and once in softball, it was golf where she would break records and win championships.
As a four-year letterman on the golf team, Maupin would become a three-time Region Champion and would win the State Championship during her Junior and Senior seasons. Maupin maintains a school record today for a low round of 68 at the Region Tournament during her Senior season.
Maupin’s success in golf led to a scholarship to Berry College, where the accolades would continue for her. In 2007, Maupin was named the NAIA Region XI Player of the Year. By winning six tournaments and eighteen Top 10 finishes, Maupin was a three-time NAIA All-American during her tenure at Berry College. She was also a NAIA Academic All-American during her Junior and Senior seasons. In 2010, Maupin was a finalist for the Peach of Athlete Award.
All the recognitions received at Berry College is supported by several school records that she set along the way. Maupin holds the records for Lowest Career Scoring Average, Lowest Single Season Scoring Average, and Lowest Scoring Round (68). She also achieved the Highest Individual National Ranking when she ranked #5 in 2010.
Maupin has been involved in a variety of civic activities over the years. She has helped at Junior Level Golf Camps for Nike and Lee University, volunteered as a FCA Huddle Leader, and was a member of Athletes Bettering the Community.
Since graduation, Maupin went to work at Ocoee Middle School in Cleveland, TN, where she is entering her 7th year as a math teacher. There, she has also served as a golf coach so that she can pass on the knowledge of the game that she made such an outstanding career in playing at Calhoun High School and Berry College.
Today, Jayne resides in Cleveland, TN with her husband, John. They have been married for nine years and have two children, Addie and Jackson. John and Jayne will welcome their third child into their home in January.
