Brent Beck was a legendary long-distance runner who attended Calhoun High School from 1971-1975. He was a three-time state champion and three-time state runner up in multiple running events. Beck owns the two-mile Calhoun High record, which he set as a sophomore, as well as the state record in the two-mile as a junior. He had top finishes in many state and national meets during his illustrious high school career. As a senior, Brent finished as the state champion in the two-mile run and state runner-up in the one-mile; and was named the Calhoun High School Male Athlete of the Year.
Beck was equally impressive in the Cross-Country; where he was a two-time champion while also breaking the course record at the Berry Kiwanis Invitational meet. He finished as the Georgia AA State Champion as a senior.
Beck lettered for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket track and cross-country teams for two years; where he qualified for the 10,000 meter at the ACC Outdoor Championships. He received a B.S. in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech in 1979 and is currently a quality engineer manager for Shaw Industries.
He is an active member of Harvest Baptist Church and lives in Cohutta, Georgia with his wife, Darlene. The Becks have two children, Keegan and Destiny.
